In search of a good photograph of our pom, I visited my old blog. That was a mistake. A grave mistake. Bemused Muse was a snapshot into my daily life when we reached Ohio. One part whimsy, a dash of political grumbling, and much humor went into it. Reading it, for me, is akin to opening a dusty tome to peer into a decade of my past. It's painful.
Dear readers, for those wondering what happened...
My father lost his job in 2012. My parents opted to move from Colorado to Ohio to live with us. I was excited over the prospect! Better Half and I tore up our lovely home in order to accommodate their belongings. We emptied our first floor for their furnishings, put our antique cabinets and odd bits in the basement, and cleared out our large upstairs bedroom for their use. We consolidated our bathroom, cleared out our basement, and prepared to welcome them with open arms.
For those unfamiliar with our home... it was my showpiece.
We called it 'Pembroke Cottage' and took gr…
We survived yesterday's weather. Good grief. Consider this a placeholder until I can pull images from my phone.
Toronto hit hard by microburst
TORONTO — The National Weather Service said it was a microburst with wind speeds in excess of 60 mph that caused damage throughout the city Monday afternoon.

"It hit us hard, but nowhere else," said Mayor John Parker Monday evening. "The temperature also dropped like 10 degrees, maybe a little more, which is consistent with those types of weather events."
A building on the 300 block of North Fourth Street lost its roof and part of the facade in the storm, and brick and other debris from the building littered the street and caused damage, some serious, to other buildings and businesses in t…
Dog hair on my face
I wipe it in vain
Blood begins to flow
Those that remember my old blog, Bemused Muse, will also remember that Better Half and I are dog lovers. They were featured in a number of daily posts. Hell, I even put up obituaries when they passed.
We have four small ones now: Zephyr the Iggy, Truffle the Pom, Piper the Chi-whatever, and Angus the Chiweenie. Five if you include my mother's menace, appropriately named Dante though I just call him Raindog due to my suspicion that he's a highly functioning autistic animal.
Meh, I digress. This pomku comes to you courtesy of Better Half, who finished the final verse while I desperately clawed at the fur coating my nose.
